Using MediaScribe Narrate
MediaScribe Narrate is a tool that adds descriptive audio (also called audio description or AD) to your videos. It analyzes your video and generates descriptions of visual content during natural pauses in dialogue, making your content accessible to viewers who are blind or have low vision.
You can create a MediaScribe Narrate account directly from the login page. No special invitation is needed — just sign up and get started.

Upload a Video
From your project dashboard, select New Project to upload a video.

In the Upload Your Video dialog, drag and drop your video file into the upload area, or select click to browse to find a file on your computer. Accepted formats are MP4 and MOV, up to 10 GB. You can also select Or enter a video URL to link to a video instead of uploading a file.

After your file uploads, the Create Project dialog appears.

Review the video preview and enter a name in the Project Name field. The file name is used by default.
Select Create Project.
Note: You can rename your project later. Select Edit Details from the project editor to update the Project Title or add tags.
Processing
After you create a project, MediaScribe Narrate processes your video automatically. You will see the project card move through several stages:
Uploading — A percentage indicator shows upload progress.
Transcoding Queued — The video is waiting to be transcoded.
Transcoding — The video is being transcoded.
Media Processing — The system analyzes your video and generates description events.
Agentic Preprocessing — The system prepares the generated descriptions before they are ready for review.
Agentic Reviewing Descriptions — The system reviews the generated descriptions.
Agentic Reviewing Overlaps — The system checks for overlaps between descriptions and the original audio.
Processing time depends on the length of your video. A 6-hour meeting, for example, can take 5 to 7 hours to process. You do not need to stay on the page. When processing is complete, you will receive an email so you can return to review your project.

If a problem occurs during processing, you and the MediaScribe engineering team will receive a notification automatically.
Review Description Events

When processing finishes, your project opens in the editor. The editor shows your video with a playback timeline and waveform, and a list of Events in the right panel.
Each event represents one description that will be read aloud during a pause in the video. Each event shows a start time, an end time, the duration of the available pause, and the generated description text.
Play an Event
Select the Play button next to an event, or select anywhere in the event card to jump to that point in the video and hear the description in context.
Edit an Event

Select the options menu (three dots) on an event card.
Select Edit.
Update the Start, End, or Description fields as needed.
Select the checkmark button to save your changes, or the X button to cancel.

Rate a Description

Each event card has a thumbs up button and a thumbs down button.
Select the thumbs up button to mark the description as Good description.
Select the thumbs down button to mark the description as Could be improved.
Your ratings help improve the system over time.
Delete an Event

Select the options menu (three dots) on an event card.
Select Delete.
Add an Event

Select + Add Event at the top of the events panel to create a new description at any point in the video.
View Event History

Select the options menu (three dots) on an event card and choose History to see previous versions of that description.

Add Feedback

You can submit feedback on any moment in your video to help the MediaScribe team improve the product. The Add Feedback button appears in the bottom-right corner of the editor and updates to show the current timestamp as you play the video.
Select Add Feedback to open the feedback dialog for that timestamp.
Select Works well or Could improve to describe the moment.
Select all follow-up options that apply. If you selected Works well, you can indicate that the description was accurate and helpful, or that it was well placed and did not interfere with the content's original audio. If you selected Could improve, you can indicate that the description was not accurate or the AI model hallucinated, that it interfered with the content's original audio, or that it was not well aligned with the original content.
Optionally, add comments in the Additional comments field.
Select Submit.

Render Your Project

When you are satisfied with your descriptions, select Render in the top toolbar. This produces your final video with the descriptive audio track included.
A confirmation dialog will appear before rendering begins. Note: Rendering locks the project for future edits. You can unlock the project after rendering, but reprocessing fees may apply. Select Render to confirm, or Cancel to return to the editor.

After Rendering

When rendering is complete, your project page shows all available output files organized into three groups.
Video
Two video file options are available for download as MP4:
Video (Dual Audio) — Contains separate original and mixed audio tracks.
Video (Mixed Audio) — Contains a single pre-mixed audio track.
Captions and Transcripts
Four caption and transcript files are available for download:
Original Captions — Captions from the source content, available in VTT, SRT, and SCC formats.
Captions with AD — Captions with description markers included, available in VTT, SRT, and SCC formats.
Original Transcript — A plain text transcript, available in TXT format.
Transcript with AD — A plain text transcript with descriptions included, available in TXT format.
Audio
Two audio files are available for download:
Mixed Audio — The original audio combined with the descriptions track, available in WAV and MP3 formats.
Descriptions Only — The audio descriptions track only, available in WAV and MP3 formats.
For help uploading your rendered video to third-party platforms, see Publishing Audio Described Videos to Third-Party Platforms.
View Changes
Select View Changes at the top of the page to see a change history for the project. Each entry shows the previous description struck through in red and the updated description in green.
Unlock for Editing
If you need to make changes after rendering, select Unlock in the Actions panel on the right side of the page. A confirmation dialog will appear explaining what happens when you unlock the project: you can modify event timing and descriptions, you will need to re-render to generate new outputs, and previous rendered files will remain available until overwritten. Re-rendering will incur additional processing charges. Select Unlock & Edit to proceed, or Cancel to close the dialog.
Delete a Project
To permanently remove a project from your workspace, select Delete Project in the Actions panel.
Privacy and Data Security
MediaScribe Narrate is secure by default. Support and admin staff cannot view your project data — including uploaded files, thumbnails, or AI-generated content — without your explicit permission.
Grant Support Access
If you need help with your account or a project, you have two options. Opening a ticket from within the app is preferred because it submits your request directly without needing to visit the support site separately.
From within the app (recommended): Select your account name at the top of the page and choose Report a Problem. Fill in the required Subject and Description fields. Optionally, use the Related Project dropdown to link the issue to a specific project. Select the Grant support access checkbox to allow the support team to access your account for 24 hours to investigate the issue. Select Submit Ticket when you are done.
From the support site: Select your account name at the top of the page and choose Support to visit the MediaScribe Support site. From there, you can open a support ticket manually. If the support team needs access to your project to investigate, they will request it at that time.
When Something Goes Wrong
If a project fails or an error occurs, you will receive an email notification with details. The system tries to fix problems automatically, but if a project is still failing, a Retry button will be available in the project editor. Select Retry to attempt processing again.
Because project data may include sensitive files, support staff will need your permission before they can investigate a failed project. You can grant that permission from your account menu or when you contact support.
Accessibility
MediaScribe Narrate is designed to help you meet accessibility requirements for video content, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and FCC requirements for video description. If you have questions about compliance for your specific use case, contact your accessibility coordinator or legal team.
